Music competitions, theatrical battles, athletic competitions, dancing, food, wine and gifts to the gods — the ancient Athenians knew how to celebrate in style! In this program, students tour the Museum together with archaeologists and explore, through selected exhibits, in an interactive way, the religious, cultural, social and competitive aspects of Attic festivals and their significance in antiquity. Then, in the specially designed educational center, they themselves take on an active role in organizing an imaginary divine festival: they cooperate, employ their humor and creative expression and bring the past to life through their own eyes, bridging yesterday with today. Who will organize the most fun party?
The program is designed and implemented by the Educational Programs Department of the Acropolis Museum.
